TELL US A STORY

Send us a story!  Send us a digital video or audio recording about yourself.  A story of 5 minutes in length is preferred.  Prepare your digital storytelling and send as an email attachment to:

Computer Technology and Software Requirements to Send Us a Story

For videos recordings:  
Digital, MiniDV

For audio recordings:
Digital audio recording software is necessary to send us a story and we recommend a free utility called PureVoice.  See the instructions below to the download of this software and use instructions.  You computer will need to have a sound card and a microphone. Students will also need a functioning microphone installed into their computer to record audio files.  Be sure and test your microphone for clarity!

Download PureVoice Digital Audio Recording Software

Free PureVoice Player/Recorder Download:

You can download the player/recorder from the sites listed below. The file includes both the PureVoice Player-Recorder plug-in for Eudora Software, and the PureVoice Player-Recorder software for all email applications.

Using PureVoice Digital Audio Recording Software

See the image file below of the PureVoice Window.  

A VERY IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL STEP:  First, set your microphone setting on the slide bar located on the lower right side so that the arrow is high up on the bar (higher than depicted in the image below.)  This will help ensure optimal recording volume!

Notice underneath the blue area  "QUALCOMM PureVoice" there is a Control Panel with these indicators:

1.  Highlight FILE from Control Panel
Select NEW RECORDING in the drop down window

2.  Highlight  CONTROL from Control Panel
Choose RECORD in the drop down window to start recording

3.  When done recording, select CONTROL from the Control Panel
Choose STOP from the drop down window.

4.  You must now save.  Always save your files to your local computer before uploading!  To save your file, start by going to FILE from the Control Panel.
Choose SAVE AS from the drop down window.  
In the "Save in:" window, choose a logical folder location on your personal (local) computer to save the file.
In the "File name:" window, name the file with your full name, keep the "qcp" extension.
Select "SAVE".  After you save, the PureVoice Window will reappear.  You may close the Window.

5. Use the DROPBOX instructions to upload your voice file to WebCT DropBox.  PLEASE, make sure your voice file has your name at part of it for example:  marysmithstory1.qcp 

Installing PureVoice Recording Software 

1.  Initially you have to download the free online PureVoice Recording software.

(QUALCOMM: v1.3.2 for Windows [click here]) and save it your disk. 



2.  After downloading the “PureWin132.exe” file, just click on it to install which will take you to the installing screen. Click on Next button located in the bottom of the screen which can be seen in

3.  Then you will go to the license agreement screen  just click on “Yes”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
 


4.  Then the screen that shows up will prompt for the destination folder to store the software files. Select a folder of your choice by “Browse” button and click on “Next” button.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


5.  Just click on the “Next” button on the screen as shown below which will then start installing of the software. after installing please go through the “readme” file which tells you how the software works.
