Storytelling and Pre-Schoolers: Getting and Holding the Nursery Child's Attention? A Teaching Outline by Wendy Welch
This website has an excellent outline for storytelling. Many of the key ideas could be adapted for use with much older children than pre-schoolers. Wendy Welch covers the basics about choosing material, warm ups and technique. Some of her hints are especially insightful. She has an activity about jumping in and letting go of reading from picture books called Sudden Death. Another technique especially for kids is the Magic Box.
This website is not extremely current but has timeless hints that do not require constant updates. The information is excellent. I would recommend this site to anyone working with young children for the first time.
