StoryPlace The Children's Digital Library website is provided by
the Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County in North Carolina.
This website is very user friendly for children, parents, and educators. The
home page provides a pre-school library, elementary library, book hive and
comment links. It also provides the user to access the Spanish version of Story
Place The Children’s Digital Library website. This website is also very colorful
which attracts the user. The site layout is user friendly. Each page has a link
either to home or to all of the other pages within the site. In the pre-school
library and elementary library children are provided a choice by theme on-line
stories, which then is provided with an on-line activity for reinforcement. A
take home activity is also provided and additional suggested reading list. A
parent activity is also providing to make a connection with stories. In order to
view the on-line stories Flash6 Player is required. This website does have a
short preloading time depending on the speed of one’s connection. The Spanish
version is basically the same as the English version. The stories are different
in the Spanish version.
Overall this is an awesome website that provides not only a story to children,
but it provides an interactive activity with the child. It is also an excellent
website for parents to interact with the children. It provides a list of
suggested reading for children that can be checked out at the library or
purchased at a bookstore.
