Texas Escapes

“Old-time Texas Rangers used to say some men just need killing. Some stories
just need telling…” quote from TexasEscapes.com an online magazine devoted to
Texas tales, history, and travel.
John and Kate Troesser started this magazine to share their love of Texas. The
goal is to tell the tales from every Texas town, including ghost towns. Several
columnists contribute to their effort. Readers also offer contributions.
“Texas Tales” is a monthly column by Mike Cox, a former award-winning journalist
from the Austin American-Statesman and author of eleven books about Texas. In
each column he tells a story about Texas or Texans. In the one column, he tells
of Mustang Grey who had a ballad written about his adventures. Other columns are
devoted to mysteries and historical oddities, like the adventures of the first
bicycle law officer or the mystery of little child buried in Sipe Springs.
Another section is devoted to Texas ghost stories. A variety of writers and some
readers provide stories of ghost sightings in Texas. Some are old stories but
some are current sightings.
The site is attractive and easy to follow. This is good source for getting
stories about Texas or doing research on Texas towns, past and present. The site
does have ads, but fortunately they are not pop-ups.
