The Topic Storytelling

The website that I chose to evaluate is that of a basic review and links to additional sources that relate to storytelling. The site contains information that can be used with students in the form of a webquests and activities and teacher resources. Some of the information and links are repetitive of our class work. I found the student section to be a valuable resource. I

Accuracy

The material is current and some of the links were not all working when I accessed them. The page appears to be accurate based upon the information that is provided. Upon perusal, I did not see any items that could be construed as unreliable.

Authority

The authority of the site is established through the creators who are both educators and professional developers. The webpage is provided as a free service and extension of their professional business page.

Objectivity

The objectivity of the website does not appear to be biased. The links provided seem to be a wide range and cover many aspects of storytelling and its components. The information is provided as a free service. However, there are links to their business page where materials can be purchased. There is no outside sponsorship or advertising on the site.

Currency

The information presented on the specific webpage was last updated in February of 2002 by the creators and then in October of 2002 by a third person related to the professional business.

Coverage

The layout of the page very neat and colorful and easy to follow. The brief introduction to storytelling is enough to provide an insight without confusing or boring the reader. The links are arranged in several sections. The first section allows for the reader to locate additional information in regards to storytelling. The second area provides student centered activities. The following sections provide more information resources and links specifically geared for teachers. The last section is a table containing related storytelling words some are hyperlinked to their pages that provide further information on that topic. The topics button on the bottom leads to an array of topics with numerous amounts of information.
